Hi there! I am a wife, mom of 3, and horse enthusiast! I grew up in Ohio and feel thankful every winter that I ended up here in Colorado - for the sunshine and skiing! My family and I live on a small hobby farm just outside of Conifer, CO. So far we've acquired 15 chickens, 2 horses, and 1 spoiled goofball yellow lab. We hope to add some skillful mouser-cats and bees in the near future. When I'm not tending to all the animals, you'll find me grinding wheat and baking bread!

WHY IS EXPERIENTIAL WORK SO IMPORTANT TO ME?
Like many graduate students, my early work mostly incorporated cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). I DO believe there is a place for CBT, and research certainly backs it up. However, for myself and in my story, I kept coming up against feeling stuck with knowing and challenging my own negative core beliefs, but not feeling any different. I was frustrated by that, but I didn't know of any good alternative at that time. Then came along my first experience that shifted my paradigm of what therapy could be. It was actually the first time I tried rock climbing. I had reached the top of the climbing wall, and it was time to belay down (i.e., get back to the ground). I was hit with the thought that if I want to get to the ground (which I did), then I'd have to let go - literally. The physical act of having to let go gave me the experience that my body needed in order to know how to "let go" of certain things in my life. Taking something so conceptual as "I need to let go of X" into a physical reality/experience, changed everything for me. This eventually launched me into seeking more somatic-based approaches that integrated the mind AND the body.
Seraphina is a 20 year old Appaloosa. She found her forever home here at the ranch in April 2024. Though Seraphina's previous family loved her very much, they wanted her to find a home where she could receive more attention and have a purpose in helping others.
As it is for all of us, Seraphina's life events have greatly shaped how she feels in the world and in relationship with others. She experienced repeated abandonment and instability for many years. This means it takes a little longer for Seraphina to feel safe enough to trust others. That being said, she doesn't close herself off from connection and truly has the heart of gold. There is a gentleness and depth about her, and she has a gift of teaching others what true connection feels like.
Gus is an 11 year old OTTB (off the track thoroughbred). Gus came to us in June 2024 and gets to spend the rest of his days loving on people. His early years were spent racing until he retired from that job in 2022. He is loving his "retirement" job of meeting people, holding space, and creating connection. Gus' large size fits with his large puppy dog personality. He is as sweet as they come and loves ear scratches!
