Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach me at BrandyBurch@JourneyTogetherHorseRanch.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I provide individual therapy sessions.  During the summer months, 1-day intensives are also available (click here to learn about upcoming events).

I believe in providing transformative experiences; ways that I provide these healing experiences are through Equine-Assisted Therapy, EMDR, and/or Brainspotting.

Equine-Assisted Therapy is experiential in nature and can enhance insight-oriented therapy. EMDR and Brainspotting are other somatic-based interventions that I use in sessions with my clients.

I do not directly contract with insurance (see question below about how I can help you submit a superbill for out of network benefits).  Here are some reasons I do not work with directly with insurance:

  1. In order for insurance to provide reimbursement, a diagnosis is required.  However, many of my clients do not fit diagnostic criteria.  Many therapists find themselves in a sticky situation where in order to obtain reimbursement, they have to assign a diagnosis.  This is unethical to do if the person does not actually meet criteria for the mental health disorder.
  2. Using insurance gives the insurance companies the right to review any personal information discussed in session which includes: your treatment plan, your history, your personal struggles, and your personal goals.
  3. Your insurance can dictate the number of sessions they will allow or decide whether therapy is even necessary.

*Please note that a superbill does require a diagnosis in order to receive reimbursement.  If you are wanting a superbill, we will discuss if you meet criteria for a mental health disorder.

Of course!  I get it - those insurance forms are daunting.  That is why I have decided to work with Mentaya.  Mentaya is a platform that helps clients get money back on out-of-network therapy sessions. If you have out-of-network benefits, Mentaya will file claims and handle the insurance paperwork to make sure you get reimbursed.

  • They charge a 5% fee per claim.
  • The exact amount you get reimbursed will depend on your particular insurance plan.
  • PPO plans can cover anywhere from 30-80% of the session cost.

Definitely!  Not everyone is interested in working with horses and that's ok!  I have a very comfy office on site where we can meet.

Yes!  Online therapy offers wonderful convenience and flexibility for busy mamas.  Online sessions are also great for when the weather doesn't cooperate!

Closed-toe shoes are required for working with the horses.  Layers of clothing and sun protection are encouraged given the changing and sometimes unpredictable nature of weather.
